How a very famous, 145 year-old candy company converted a skeptic and boosted online sales.

Jelly Belly hardly needs an introduction. They've been around since 1869 and are the the number one retailer of jelly beans worldwide. As ecommerce marketing manager for the company, Jason Marrone is responsible for driving new online business.

To be as established as Jelly Belly is both a blessing and a curse for Jason. On the one hand, he has huge reach and loyal customers. But on the other, there aren't many new markets for the company to tap. To keeping moving forward, Jason had to get creative.

When he first heard about McAfee SECURE certification, he doubted the benefits.

But in 2008, after realizing he needed to find new ways to grow, he accepted the offer to test the McAfee SECURE trustmark on Jelly Belly's website. 50% of visitors to jellybelly.com saw the trustmark; the other half didn't. The trustmark lets customers know the site they're on is tested and certified to be safe, free from malware, viruses, and more.

But when the dust settled, the trustmark wouldn't be denied. The results showed that displaying the trustmark increased sales by 6.42%! Jason says that because they implemented the McAfee SECURE service, Jelly Belly will see "an annual ROI of just shy of 2400%."
