The oldest, continuously operating historical society in Indiana! Founded in 1887, the Henry County Historical Society has made it its mission to preserve Henry County history (artifacts, photos, documents, etc.) to educate both young and old. The Museum opened in 1902 and is housed in the home of Civil War General William Grose. He had his home built in 1870. Henry County history from different eras is on display 10 months of each year. One of the best genealogy libraries in the east-central region of Indiana, the Clarence H. Smith Genealogy Library, is housed in the house to the north of the Museum (John and Sarah Moore home, built in the mid 1880s).
Our Bicentenary vision is to raise RM1,000,000 over the next 3 years to empower disadvantaged children through education - academically, life skills and the Christian way of life.
