Burlap and Berries
1789 - 1889 was a ruggedly wonderful time of life, yet frugal for most and a reason to treasure what families held dear. Burlap and Berries carries on that "century's old" tradition of rural crafting, repurposing and making everything by hand. Whether the primitive crafting skills were used for day to day living, gifting or displaying, sometimes you never knew just how far something could go before being turned into something else - which tended to change by each of the seasons. What was once a hearty winter shirt became the foundation for spring and summer needs as the garment wore from everyday labor. A piece of burlap from an old summer's potato sack was certainly saved and easily resown into the elbow of a jacket for the following winter. A plank of old barn wood or a window pane of broken glass would always be kept, neatly stacked and just waited for it's next season's purpose.
